Introduction to Ottawa Insights

Ottawa Insights is the Ottawa Community Foundation’s web-based community knowledge centre. The Ottawa Insights team collaborates with a broad range of community partners who collect data and who also have an interest in local issues.

Ottawa Insights brings together and helps connect key information on status, trends, and conditions across a broad range of issues affecting the quality of life in Ottawa. The data shared here is meant to support and empower evidence-based decisions and actions.

As a user, you can engage with Ottawa Insights in a variety of ways depending on your interests. You can focus on a particular issue or browse the site to get a better understanding of where the city as a whole is making progress and where it is stuck or regressing. You can also use the topic tags under each indicator to get more related information. The Mix and Match tool lets you pull together information from multiple topics from across the site.

We are grateful for the access to data and the analytic capabilities we receive as part of our membership with the Ottawa Region Data Consortium. Thank you to the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study for data analysis and support.  We also benefit from input on approach and content from representatives from a range of organizations at early prototyping sessions, and from data and advice from City of Ottawa staff on an ongoing basis.
